The Stories listed below point out the dangers on some of the highways in Western Kentucky. On several occasions this year there have been tragic accidents on Highway 94 in Calloway County. As a person who travels through these highways everyday each week I can understand that it could be the site of such a tragic accident. It is definitely one of many dangerous highways in Western Kentucky that must be navigated with caution.Speed, Alcohol and Driver inattention to Red Lights and Stop Signs are the leading causes of Wrongful Death in Western Kentucky as well as Car Wrecks in Kentucky. Running a Red Light is a violation of Kentucky Criminal Law and in this case could lead to a Kentucky Civil Suit against the Negligent Driver.

Head-On Collision Claims Life of Two in Marshall County

PALMA, KY – Police say both drivers involved in a head-on collision early Tuesday morning in Marshall County did not live.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office director of operations David Maddox, deputies were dispatched to U.S. 68 near Palma, Ky. shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning after a crash was reported. It was determined one of the two vehicles crossed the center line and struck the other car head-on.

One of the drivers was transported to Marshall County Hospital where he died of his injuries. The second driver was life-flighted to a hospital in Evansville, Ind. where he too died of his injuries suffered in the crash.

The names of the drivers have not yet been released by law enforcement. The crash is still under investigation.

Two Marshall County Residents Killed in Head-On Collision

PALMA, Ky. – The two drivers involved in a deadly early morning head-on collision have been identified.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office director of operations David Maddox, deputies were dispatched to U.S. 68 near Palma, Ky. shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning after a crash was reported. It was determined the vehicle driven by 47-year-old David Allen crossed the center line and struck the other car, driven by 20-year-old Austin Grugett head-on.

Sheriff Kevin Byers says both men were from Benton.

Austin Grugett was transported to Marshall County Hospital where he died of his injuries.

The second driver, David Allen, was transported to an Evansville, Indiana hospital. He too died of his injuries suffered in the crash.

Two Injured in Head-On Collision on Brookport Bridge

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Paducah man after a two car crash on Brookport Bridge on Tuesday, Nov. 11.James R. Lambert, 49, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs third offense, operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, assault fourth degree (two counts based on the injuries sustained to others by his driving impaired), criminal mischief first degree, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.Deputies say they were notified at 4:44 p.m. about a head on crash.When they arrived, they say they helped emergency workers care for the injured because response was low due to slowed traffic and the tight confines of the bridge.

According to deputies, Lambert was driving a 1996 Dodge truck southbound on the bridge.

They say the investigation, along with witness statements, indicate that speed was a factor and that Lambert lost control of the truck and hit an oncoming car.

Pregnant Woman and Child Killed in Interstate 75 Wrongful Death Car Crash by Drunk Driver

Pregnant Woman, Child Killed in I-75 crash WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (AP) — An out-of-control pickup truck crossed an interstate median and struck three oncoming vehicles, killing a pregnant woman and a child, police said. The crash Monday night along Interstate 75 in southern Kentucky temporarily shut down traffic in both directions. The truck driver was charged with drunken driving, three murder counts and driving on a suspended license, Kentucky State Police said. One murder charge stemmed from the death of the woman’s unborn baby. The three vehicles that were struck were carrying 14 people, including several youngsters, but state police did not specify how many were injured. Cindy S. Haas, 25, of Cleveland and Gus P. Pontikis, 8, of Park Ridge, Ill., died in the crash.
