Benton Kentucky Man Dies in a Marshall County Car-Truck Accident

HARDIN, KY - The Marshall County Sheriff's Department is investigating a Monday morning crash that killed a Benton man.

Deputies report that, around 7am, a vehicle driven by 35-year old Chris Caruthers of Hardin made a left turn from Commerce Street onto KY 402, pulling into the path of a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Rickie Jones of Benton.

Jones was driving a truck, pulling a gooseneck trailer, when the accident occurred. Jones' truck ran off the left shoulder of the road after being struck, and overturned. 

Marshall County Coroner Mitchell Lee pronounced Jones dead at the scene. 

A passenger in Jones' vehicle, 43-year-old Ignacio Lozano of Benton, was taken by ambulance to Marshall County Hospital.

Caruthers was reportedly not injured.
